Fee: $10. The Licking Park District has partnered with the Newark Police Dept to teach women realistic self-defense tactics. The acronym R.A.D. is short for Rape Aggression Defense. This is a women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance while progressing to the basics of hands-on defense training. This course is taught by nationally trained instructors. The R.A.D. system is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts & techniques against various forms of assault by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. Participants must be a 18 and up or a minimum of 16 years of age if accompanied by a parent. Registration is limited to the first 15 registrants. (Registration will open Dec. 1 for a second class to be offered Jan. 4.)
