The Heisey Wind Ensemble continues their 40th Anniversary Season with a concert titled American Landscapes on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held at the John W. Alford Performing Arts Hall in the John Gilbert Reese Center on the campus of The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College.
Dr. Russel Mikkelson, Music Director and Principal Conductor, has programmed a musical journey around the United States. We begin in New York City with “Overture from Wonderful Town.” We travel across the country to Washington State to visit Mount Rainier with “Reigniere”, a piece by Denison Professor Zachery Meier. A trip down to Texas to enjoy Frank Ticheli’s “San Antonio Dances.” Then up to the northeast to visit the Erie Canal with a new piece by Ohio composer Lisa Galvin, “Excursion! A Ride on the Erie Canal”. We end our journey with a hop over to Chicago with Franco Cesarini’s Symphony No. 3 “Urban Landscapes”. This will be a good way to experience other parts of the United States without having to leave central Ohio.
